This Little Hell
My adventures with eating organic, and using natural products for beauty and cleaning.
My adventures with eating organic, and using natural products for beauty and cleaning.
I’ve heard nothing but praise from those who have stopped using shampoo in favor of baking soda and apple cider vinegar, so I decided to try it out. The worst that can happen is I don’t like it and switch back to my normal Dove.
I started Sunday. I definitely used too much baking soda in my solution and my hair was stiff and dry and coated in a greyish tinge. I had to go to church like that unfortunately, but when I got back I rinsed it with water two or three times and then rinsed it with lime juice. Monday I didn’t wash it at all, in favor of letting the oils in my scalp return to nature’s balance. Today after a baking soda wash and rosemary/lime/water rinse, my hair is a bit on the dry side. I rubbed coconut oil in the ends and, when my hair had dried, brushed it 100 times to distribute the oils from my scalp throughout the rest of my hair.
I bought all-natural, organic oatmeal soap and witch hazel at the grocery store today so tomorrow, I’ll be entirely “green” when I shower. As soon as I run out of toothpaste and lotion, I’ll be trying homemade recipes for those as well.
